To run a blog on own server needs a running supply of money. Plus the amount of your physical and mental energy you are wasting, the time you are spending, the electricity bill incurred due to computer usage, the bill of Internet usage for the blogging should get a prize money in return. Frankly, we do not know if you can make big money by asking the visitors to donate a money or making the whole content paid membership based.

When the blog has reached a certain level, has good amount of visitors, you should thinks about earnings through advertising and might have faced the question within yourself “Where do I get advertisers for my blog?.”
Keep in mind, unless you have 500+ unique visitors; practically you can not see money from Advertising.
To find potentially good advertisers there are several ways.
Personal relationship
There is no doubt this the the fool-proof method. If you ask your friend who is earning nicely from advertisements, he / she will suggest you the Advertisers. As a friend, he / she will give more tips for better performance (that means increased clicks). However, not everyone has a blogger friend who is earning money.
Asking and reading in related forums
Generally, all SEO and Webmasters’ forum has dedicated thread on making money. They are quite useful and addictive. Also, you can find direct advertisers in the forums.

Broadly, there are two options:

For sure there are blogs like yours. Have a look at what ads they posted, read, write comments / contact via email for asking the blog owner what he / she uses.
Additional tips
While the blog has no advertising, it is not necessary to place the rectangles with the text “Advertising here”. This can cause a bad effect – advertisers may think that the blog is not interesting to attract their customers. Therefore it is better either to advertise as they become available or put nothing.
