Cloud Storage : Unsolved Problems

Previously, we have written articles on Cloud Storage and cloud server and we also mentioned the security and privacy issues associated with security and privacy issues of associated with Cloud Computing, definitely some of those are applicable for the Cloud Storage as well.

Also there are several instances of failure of some of the Cloud Storage services offered by Amazon, including the Cloud Storage, service Elastic Block Store (EBS) that supports the famous Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).

Although, cloud computing and Cloud Storage service provider Rackspace, whose service is known to offer rock solid Cloud Storage service, also faced minor problems in January 2010.

More than eighteen months have passed since then, it brings to mind a number of issues that we think are important to answer for Cloud Storage Services, mainly because they make any customer worried when it comes in particular with the Paid Cloud Storage service.

The Unsolved Problems of Cloud Storage

• Where is my data located in Cloud Storage?
• What if I want to take out my data from the cloud Storage?
• How I can change my provider Cloud Storage?

Although, this website is not devoted to legal issues of Cloud Storage, but if we have to deal with these questions in more than one occasion.

Some why about Cloud Storage may not have any answer

What if we want to take the data from the Cloud? And how we can change our provider of the Cloud? The answer is that we are bound to get out the content that we have uploaded to the Cloud in any of the two cases.

It is given that most, you have to pay the charge for data transfer from one Cloud Storage service to another, which means we have to pay the double amount to move our data out of the Cloud Storage Service or between different Cloud Storage Providers.

Besides this, from the technical point of view it is derived as a corollary again another question : interoperability between the Cloud Storage Services. Today, still there is no single standard model which defines the interoperability between different Cloud Storage providers.
