Data Center Cooling and Server Room Cooling can be implemented in different ways. In this article, we will discuss the major technologies currently in use for Data Center Cooling.

We already have discussed about Dedicated Server, Virtual Private Server (VPS) and Cloud Computing. You must have noticed we emphasized in these articles that the recurring cost incurred for Data Center Cooling and Server Cooling is one of the major factor for high end user cost for using a Dedicated server or Private Cloud versus a Shared server.

Broadly the technology those are used for Data Center Cooling and Server Cooling can be divided in two categories : Data Center Cooling and Conventional Cooling methods.

Free Methods of Data Center Cooling offers the benefit of non-recurring cost. However, this topic itself is so broad that we will consider to discuss on a separate article. Here are just the outlines about Free Methods of Data Center Cooling technologies.

 

First some words on Conventional methods of  Data Center Cooling : “conventional” : think the way you run air conditioning system at your office or home. Obviously, these methods are more effective and robust but has the major disadvantage : increased recurring cost for electricity. That is why people begin to think about Free and indirect methods of Data Center Cooling.

Free methods can be further divided in to many subtypes. We will deliberately not go in to further in this article. Here are just the outlines about free Data Center Cooling technologies. Most companies actually combines two methods.
