Server Side Software or Server Software

A server Side Software or Server Software or simply Server is a program which is to be contacted by an client to meet a specific service for the user. The communication is based on the client-server model.
The services of the server Side Software is specific to that , so server Side Software, that is there are separate server Side Software for each services. The service is called the server service and data exchange between client and server Side Software is through a service-specific protocol set. The following general and well-known server services are listed.

Examples of Some Server Side Software

Apache is called Apache Server, it is basically a Software. Basically in networking, the terminology Server in most cases used to indicate a specific or non specific server Side Software. Authentication server, Chat server, File Server, Database server, Printer Server, Name Server – all are typical example of this application of naming.

Explanation of Server Side Software

As in Networking, the number of softwares are limited, Server Side Software is conventionally mentioned with the function name it servers – Mail Server. The setup of a Mail Server can be on a physically same or different hardware server, but it is actually intended to mention – this is running some Server Side Software to handle emails.

The usage of Server Side can be explicit on implicit

It is not that, the function named server are only examples of Server Side Software but there are software named Server Side software too. Google Urchin is a Server Side Software, PHP is Server Side Software for Scripting etc.
