What advantages are there for using pastebin? I find pastebin links in search results regularly and generally the results are useless since the results are merely a copy and I want to view the source.

  There are several reasons. First, in forums, posting ~100+ lines of snippets for discussion forces to scroll down too much or adds pagination. Second, in many cases we need to copy paste again to correct it in next reply. That ultimately makes the thread difficult to browse. Pastebin allows direct copying. Third, many forums, CMS, blogging softwares has no syntax highlighting feature. Like this. Forth, some codes even used within wrap, actually breaks the page. Fifth is for SEO, the codes dilutes the Keyword.
