Private Cloud : Why to Choose and How to Deal the Management Part

Private Cloud effectively eliminate the bottleneck in the data center virtualization model while maintaining the cost savings part, but knowledge is required. Knowledge is required for Private Cloud Platform Selection, elementary knowledge to build a Private Cloud, the risk benefit ratio of various Private Cloud Solutions and two most important points – how to deal with management part in case of migration to Private Cloud.

Elementary Reasons to Choose Private Cloud

With the increasing capacity of the servers, frequently the workload generated by a typical application does not consume all the resources of a single server. Large amounts of resources were important in idle capital and burned energy, space and cooling requirements. Virtualization has come to the rescue to solve many of these problems.

With the implementation of multiple virtual machines (VM), the same physical host, with the classic setup of a physical host has been expanded from one to many, thus ensuring savings costs. Once this improvement is implemented, however, the problems related to supply of these resources are left to be solved.

For many organizations a private cloud can effectively eliminate the bottleneck in the model consists of the data center virtualization and provisioning, while maintaining cost savings via VM. By automating the provisioning of VMs, can efficiently provide these resources from any individual and group within the company. It is doubtful that the private cloud is the right solution for every situation. When trying to think whether a private cloud is the right choice or not, we have to take into consideration some aspects which will be helpful for you.

Points to Consider for a Private Cloud Setup or Migration

Private Cloud Why to Choose and How to Deal the Management Part
Choice of workflow : Choose the correct workflow for the  infrastructure or configure the infrastructure to deal with a specific workload. For example, if the hardware allocated for your private cloud contains high-performance CPU, then intensive application will be compatible within the confines of your available resources. If you require a high bandwidth I/O and the disks in use are not able to satisfy, you may need to update the storage systems to meet the demands of applications.

Safety : It ‘s obviously easier to satisfy the security requirements of a company using a private cloud.

Latency : Generally you can get network latency significantly reduced in a private cloud, because the path from the public internet to the end user is not interrupting in between. And it is possible to optimize the storage performance in a private cloud environment with the use of high-performance storage hardware configuration and high-bandwidth connectivity for these devices.

Cost : This is a bit controversial in comparison to public cloud. It  is true that a private cloud environment is in many cases less expensive on the basis of use of VMs per hour compared to a public cloud service and the costs of storage and networking will most likely be reduced. It is also true that a private cloud is not configured overnight, need a large investment and therefore detailed analysis of ROI is necessary. The convenience of cost is an issue related to the size of a company and its requirements in terms of performance and safety.

Automation : You can also decide how to automate the distribution of resources. One way is to use images to deploy standalone server instances or if you have a cloud management solution that allows a dynamic configuration to boot the server, you can use operating system images, which will allow you to save time because you do not need to create new images when you apply changes to the application or distribute new applications on your private cloud.

A key component of a cloud data center is a good system software for the cloud infrastructure. There are commercial and open source private cloud solutions that provide provisioning of virtual machines, storage and networking resources. In addition, a cloud management solution allows to abstract APIs for the cloud with an interface through which you can access the underlying cloud resources regardless of which cloud software is used.
