Slow Motion Animation in Mac OS X 10.8 is quite easy to trigger as the core files are actually loaded with the kernel. Simply hold the Shift Key from Keyboard (Left or Right side; does not matter). For example, if during this holding the Shift Key, you click the documents icon (set at Grid view for better visibility of the animation), it will slowly expand.
