What will happen if you do not update your blog?

One of the main advice is usually given to anyone who starts a blog is to update it frequently and if possible, twice a day, but why to update your blog daily is so important?

What will happen if you do not update your blog?

First you must make one thing clear, a blog is designed in a way or rather the SEO part is set up in a way, if you do not post, the number of visitors will fall because of drop of position in Google Search Engine page.

Do not think it is that easy! There are groups of bloggers who suggests to post a bit less frequently, but like a burst method : suddenly 5-6 posts in one day, one post next day, no post on third day; 2 posts on forth day.

Their logic is, Google crawler will index the old posts in a better way if we allow it a time; though a temporary fall in traffic will happen, Google Crawler will get used with your behavior.

So what to do? Update your blog regularly or not?

The second group, who are arguing with their own logic, basically has lot of posts : may be 30,00 posts in their blog; soWhat will happen if you do not update your blog practically they’ll not suffer that much if they stop posting for a day or two. But, for blogs who have posts around 1,000 to 5,000 ; it is a bit risky not to update your blog on a daily basis.

The blogging niche matters

More competitive the blogging niche is, more chance that your competitors will post more if you do not update your blog; who are actually in the more or less similar SEO profile like you, that will push you down.

Update your blog category wise

Its our opinion and experience, Google actually treats any category of WordPress blog, somewhat like a sub domain. So, update in a defunct (to search engine) category does not matter if you are updating your blog or not. Updating the “hot categories” matters much.

There are many strategies involved in updating a blog or planning, it can not be generalized for all blog.
