Half dozen SEO tips to position your website ahead of your competitor

If you do not have any competitor that is bad. Simply because you will have no one to beat, you will have no target to cross. So, set a competitor first. You should honor him / her in real life as a human being and for his / her credibility, but must hate like the worst foe as a webmaster. Your hatred should be channelized through good and unique writings, not by throwing stones by any means.

Here are some ways those we follow to rule ahead of our competitor.

Write in an unique style

Daily postings – it is the most common way of blogging. Try to experiment with the writing style. For example, all your articles should have a style of writing tutorials or guides. Your content must be text: you can use the photo, but it is not new, have to invent how to make a photoblog unusual. Look at our Windows 7 Tutorials section. We can bet, it has most innovative tutorials, most amazing screenshots. No one has thought before to take in those way and no one will. If some one copies, we will change the style.

Mixed bag content

Our competitors write about Windows 7, we write about Windows 7, WordPress, SEO, Apple; we post free downloads. All are of high keyword value and fetches traffic more easily. Google like mixed bag content in blogs. This is the fact. But do not cross the limit. You can write about cooking in a blog, then can extend to gardening (all related to home); but if you start to write about health topics there; that will be a bad idea. That is, you must keep the main category fixed. Our website belongs to Computer and technology, does not our all articles are under it? definitely. Planning and analyzing the traffic (in Google Analytics) is crucial for a mix bag content. For each category or sub category, we will suggest atleast 100 posts, if not more.

Rely on unpopular keywords

We gave importance to unpopular key phrases first; made it popular in Google search. They were infact a part of a highly paid keyword. Google gradually (and automatically) sending us traffic for that high-demand keyword. This is the mistake most does. This is why one website get popularity by fluke others get totally smashed; from a single webmaster. You need example. Suppose, you have opened a new web business selling WordPress Themes. If you target

position your website ahead of your competitor

Take the red pill

“WordPress Themes” you will fail. There are mammoths already almost “purchased” the key phrase. You may try “Designer WordPress themes”. This may give you top position in Google for that key phrase (does anyone uses keywords to search? not really; key phrases actually) but as a few number of people will search with it, initially you will get a few traffic. But, you will see how the key phrase “WordPress Themes” is getting relevant for your website. Google will automatically chop out that “designer” part.

Find good community

We have a good group in deviantArt with 550 (currently) members. All the tweets are synchronized there, we get some traffic. Most importantly, it is a good source for us to bring the best of the best free content for this website. Note that, 75% webmasters try deviantArt way but fails. deviantArt artists and members only accepts (from the heart) a person who has creativity. You can choose other suitable community. What ever you choose it must be from your heart. We really love devaintArt. It will put you ahead of your competitor for sure.

Share your experience

Write articles mixed with your experience. Just think of this article. We wrote what we did and doing. Same for tutorials. You will notice, the best tutorial providing sites have tutorials in which the author really doing the thing to shoe step by step. This avoids the missed steps or probable problems. Suppose a trick does not work if you are not logged in as Administrator in Windows 7, you forgot that but now discovered it, put it as a note. This has uplifted us way ahead of our competitors.

Do a Google search with your and competitor’s website

This is very valuable tip. If you can utilize it, you will get 4500+ pageviews within first 5 months after launch of the website. But, you have to work hard and put your analysis power. Here are the steps:

Best to use Opera browser, because it is very fast, sucks little RAM even with 30-40 tabs open and you will get an option to open in background tab on just holding the click for few seconds on any hyperlink with an Opera extension.

  1. Open two tabs, both Google are search page.
  2. Search with your website’s name with extension and in another tab with your competitor’s. Practically, your’s one to see tit-bits who has linked and compare with your competitor’s.
  3. Read about each links of your competitor in Google. Omit those valueless (for this topic) domain information and valuation results. In this way we found some very effective yet relatively unknown RSS submit directories. Go up to 100th result; after that result becomes less relevant.

This a master trick. If you can deploy it, no one can beat you; simply because you are following the methods of social marketing that works for your competitor. In this way, you are using his / her energy and experience easily.
