This includes:

File Properties: Check file properties such as creation date, software used for editing (e.g., Photoshop vs. AI tools), and image resolution.

Exif Data: Examine Exif (Exchangeable image file format) data embedded in images, which may reveal information about the device used to capture the image, location, and editing history.

Statistical methods can analyze the pixel distribution and patterns within an image to detect anomalies that are common in AI-generated images. AI-generated images may exhibit consistent textures or patterns that differ from natural variations found in real photographs.

Analyzing the color palette and distribution can reveal patterns that are unlikely to occur in real-world scenes. AI-generated images often contain specific noise patterns or artifacts that arise from the training process or model imperfections: Some GAN-generated images may show checkerboard patterns or grid-like artifacts, especially in areas of low detail.

AI models may oversmooth certain areas or blur details that are challenging to generate accurately. Performing a reverse image search using tools like Google Images or TinEye can help determine if an image appears across multiple websites or has been altered or generated by AI.
