Private Cloud Computing – Guiding Steps To Start

First thing that will struck in any corporate administrator’s mind while starting to think to shift the business from own collocated Server or Dedicated server any third party’s Private Cloud Computing environment is the concern that they are outsourcing the company’s sensitive data outside the corporate house. Yes, during the initial days, when Private Cloud Computing providers started to advertise the opportunities and benefits of deploying any business, be it shifting or starting on third party Private Cloud Computing platform, many corporate thought was, like why we will shift to a rented house while we have our own house.

Majority never thought in this way; most small to medium business office houses are run on rent, they are not purchased. The mechanism is exactly the same for using Private Cloud Computing.

Calculate the degree of risk shifting or starting your business on Private Cloud Computing

For highly important sectors, I will advise to hire a technical adviser before taking any step regarding shifting to private cloud computing. This guide is for the sectors who have medium to low risk if somehow data is lost or stolen.
This calculation of degree of risk that might result directly due to shifting to Private Cloud Computing, must be made in the presence of the owner or CEO of the brand. This is the first phase of closed round table discussion whether the company will deploy Private Cloud Computing or not. If the decision for shifting to Private Cloud Computing is towards negative, simply the idea is dropped. Private Cloud Computing platform might not be beneficial for all.

Next step is for deploying Private Cloud Computing

If the decision to shift or start the business on Private Cloud Computing is towards positive, then additional three or four round table discussion is needed. The structure of the discussion should be like a pyramid – the first step, whether to shift to Private Cloud Computing or not will be within only few decision makers, for example, the person doing clerical jobs for the brand is definitely an employee, but he / she does not need to know that the company is thinking to shift to Private Cloud Computing or not.

During this phase these factors are important to keep in mind while shifting to Private Cloud Computing platform –

  • Do the company needs to employ specialized technical staffs to monitor the Private Cloud Computing platform for the company?
  • It is important to realize that shifting to Private Cloud Computing and adapting it will take weeks to months.
  • Understanding the security loop holes, technical difficulties, failures which might affect the consumer due to the shifting to Private Cloud Computing platform.
  • If the brand or company is growing, building own private cloud computing structure might be taken in to consideration.
  • The last point from my side is, if the company selects to go with third party Private Cloud Computing solution, it is foremost important to understand the offerings of various Private Cloud Computing Providers.

Private Cloud Computing - Guiding Steps To Start
To give a clear example, take that this blog is a small business and will start a premium online service. Obviously the owner will think to shift the business part to Private Cloud Computing platform while keeping the blog part outside of private cloud computing network. This a bit complex situation, practically more complex situations are faced while shifting to private cloud computing platform. In this case, I will advice the owner to look at the brands which are almost similar to what this website is going to offer as a premium service.
