    I think the energy, or I guess you could say dedication is sometimes a deciding factor.

    I’ve seen a lot of blog owners let their blogs fade into the abyss because they’ve ran out of steam and don’t realise how much energy and time has to be dedicated.

    But that being said once you’ve got the blog off the ground so to speak they can sometimes run themselves with little maintenance occasional posts and leave the majority of posts to guest bloggers.

    The chosen niche always has a factor in this. Some niches can be saturated with old information and no new information becoming available for long periods of time.

    I agree with your opinion.
    The problem is (you have pointed it rightly), some people thinks blog is a kind of money making machine which needs very little care.
    There are bloggers / webmasters who are 100% dependent on paid posts. You know such article’s quality.
