Carrier Cloud derived from the terminology used in telecommunication – carrier class. Carrier Class are engineered to meet or exceed high availability standards. But, basically there is no standard exists for Carrier Cloud. Carrier Cloud integrates various aspects and attributes of Network Technology for high availability.
The Basics of Carrier Cloud
Carrier Cloud is not actually a neologism as many considers. The Cloud Computing we are using today has some bottlenecks as we are dependent on basically older structure of networking that was used for Server Technology. As the possible first approach of Cloud Computing was Public Cloud, to be specific, Software as a Service, no one estimated the probable weak points of it. For this reason, the concept of Carrier Cloud originated.
Notes on Carrier Cloud

Carrier Cloud has the promise of taking the advantage of elastic network performance just like a modern Content delivery network actually works. You can easily understand from this example cum comparison of today’s Cloud, typically a Cloud Server, actually is not like what a Content Delivery Network provides.
---
The basic Advantages of a Content Delivery Network like Automatic resource placement, Location control, API control seems to be present in Carrier Cloud.
To make it more simpler, like we are using The Rackspace Cloud’s infrastructure, if you think about the server part only, it is actually located in US, the content needs to be accessed (like I am writing this article in WordPress) from US server, it does not matter whether I am in India or US. But the static parts, for which we use a Content Delivery Network, actually being served from a geographically closer located place, not from US. If it fails, the next closer location will be chosen and the failed server will be healed.
If you look at our guide – Serving Full HTML Website From Rackspace Cloud Files CDN, you might be thoughtful whether this is what a Carrier Cloud is. No it is not actually a Carrier Cloud Setup by means. We should actually be able to run WordPress on Carrier Cloud, not serve just a HTML page.
