Is Ubuntu a Linux ?

 

Yes, Ubuntu is a Linux derived from Debian Linux,  it has Monolithic Linux kernel.

Is Ubuntu difficult to use than Windows PC ?

 

No, Ubuntu is more easy to use, safer and fast.

 

Can Ubuntu Get Virus ?

 

Theoretically both Mac OS X and Ubuntu (or any Linux) can get virus. But it is very rare. You can install some free antivirus to keep yourself safe, both WordPress.org and Ubuntu commands ClamAV Antivirus.

 

Will Ubuntu’s company will sniff my hard disk like Microsoft Windows ?

 

No. No one will or can sniff your hard disk when you are using any Linux, it is true for Ubuntu 12.04 too. There is no Genuine Advantage Checking and sniffing of your data. You can yourself define the sources of update by editing sources.list file.

 

Do I have to buy my regular softwares like Office ?

 

No. Basically Ubuntu 12.04 comes with LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, Empathy, Transmission, Gimp etc. The default text editor is far better than Notepad. All are Open Source.

 

Do I have to fight to configure my Internet Connection ?

 

Most Internet Service Providers are listed and device specific drivers automatically setup to connect internet via very easy wizard.

 

I like the transparency of Windows 7, will Ubuntu 12.04 Support it ?

 

Definitely Ubuntu supports transparency, it can be made more gorgeous looking by installing My Unity.

 

Is installing Softwares is tough in Ubuntu ?

 

First, unless you are logged in as the main user (root user) no one can install any software. Installation of softwares can be done via marketplace (so they are safe and checked by the team, like Android Applications, WordPress Plugins etc.) with the graphical interface. Secondly, you can always install app with the command line application with simple command :

I use lot of customizations, themes, wallpapers, icons etc. in Windows 7, I am thoughtful

 

As Ubuntu is Open Source, the opportunity to customize and tweak is more than Windows. There are lot of themes available on deviantArt, created by the artists. All free. Here are some examples :

But that software is for Windows only !

 

You can either use Wine to emulate and run the software which have no Linux counterpart or use Virtualization to run Windows. The option of dual boot with Windows is always there.
