Animal Photography is always Candid. Animal Photography and Wildlife gives the photographer to face new challenges and opportunities to take better photograph. Nature in its great diversity offers numerous motives. A major topic is wildlife photography. Animal Photography and Wildlife photography starts from the balcony, or in front of the front door, in your own garden, in that garden’s pond, in a city park or in the nearest forest and the surrounding area.
It is important that, you as a photographer open our eyes to the immediate environment and learn again to look back. Of course, you can explore and discover the landscape at their own home. You should roam around for Animal Photography, watching the flowers, grasses, trees, animals, birds and the view from the ground to the treetops.

Animal Photography Tips : The Basics

Photographers whose surrounding area is not spectacular for Animal Photography and Wildlife Photography, should start traveling abroad and it is important not to intercept the natural habitats of animals. A visit to a zoo or animal park, a wild-park, a botanical garden create impressive animal photos. Other recommended correspondents are the habitats, conservation areas or facilities of the Conservation(s). It goes without saying that you are considering, as a photographer not to hard, scare any animals. For example, keep distance from nesting birds and to exercise caution in order not to disturb the animals during breeding.

Animal Photography Tips : Requirements

This question is not so easy to answer, since the respective areas of wildlife photography demands differently on the equipment or require special lenses or accessories. Let us try to give you an overview. For small subjects or Animals, the macro photographers need a sturdy tripod, a long telephoto lens (with 300 mm focal length) and an achromatic close-up lens or a dedicated macro lens, possibly intermediate rings and a remote control shutter release. Perhaps it makes sense to use a twin flash or ring flash. Appropriate linkage and / or clamps can be used to fix the plants in order to avoid a kind of motion blur.

For the larger Animals; here the wildlife photographer needs a telephoto lens / telephoto zoom lens (with 300 mm focal length), with or without optical image stabilization. Here it becomes clear quickly that are too short focal lengths can quickly kill the joy of animal photography, since animals are captured without sufficiently long focal length are captured as too small to view.

Lenses with a long focal length but are expensive, especially lenses with a focal length of about 300 mm. A solution that can be considered acceptable, measured at cost reduction is the use of Tele converters. The advantages of teleconverters are the low price and low weight.

Disadvantages of teleconverters are loss of image quality (with a teleconverter with a factor of 1.5 is about 10%, with a 2.0x teleconverter with about 20%) and the loss of the auto focus from approx Aperture 8.0. Therefore they must be focused manually in this case. For relaxed and waiting for an exciting scene, we recommend using a stable tripod with matching head and quick release plate (to fly away yourself quickly or to re-compose quickly).

We will go in to more details, tips and tricks on Wildlife photography later, as they basically has many points to consider and learn.
