IBM Cloud : Why it is a Complete Failure

IBM Cloud is possibly an example of level of failure from the point of outages. Its not only Cloud but IBM is failing company due to strategies which are wrong. IBM non-flexible strategy for cloud typically rests on two pillars, in addition to the LotusLive Collaboration Group focusing on a wide range of services. But, newer wrong strategies pulls up the grandfather company for few quarters only. A company who was an icon once now has been a tech consulting brand, nothing more or less.

IBM Cloud : Why it is a Complete Failure

There is nothing that IBM does, they unfortunately tried that with Cloud Computing. Therefore Big Blue mixed abnormal marketing models vigorously when it comes to cloud computing. A pillar of cloud strategy are the software technologies for data on cloud. IBM has collaboration division named lotus. That might makes sense, after all collaboration applications such as email or web conferences they are ideal for cloud computing. IBM Cloud includes SaaS, PaaS, IaaS – all with currently abnormal model. The hit of point of failure started from selling the consumer computing part to Lenovo, although the unseen part is actually the lack of mainframe computer market and partially high success of Apple Mac Pro on workstation model. IBM Cloud only bears the emotion and logo now from brand IBM, as happened in February 22nd, 2013 :

A two-day outage to IBM’s $80 million data centre in Auckland this week highlights the “rare” risks involved with being based in the cloud, says Internet New Zealand.

– The New Zealand Herald

The failure made enterprise users worried for sure. The worst comment went – “All businesses expect there to be outages sometimes. However, we’ll have discussions with IBM to see what they will do to avoid this happening again.” IBM Cloud has many deep seated reasons to fail and waiting to be sold to any cloud leader in future.

IBM Cloud : Analysis of Failure

IBM Cloud

From Google to Rackspace, from Amazon to RedHat, all has flexible models that actually made Cloud Computing a big success – making a common man an enterprise – grow as you grow. IBM Cloud is like a spoiled child of a rich man, it neither can adapt the model of Amazon nor Rackspace. RedHat is too big to compare with IBM Cloud when it comes about PaaS, Rackspace or Amazon are too big to compare with IBM Cloud when it is about IaaS and definitely Google leads a big part of SaaS with Google Apps. Not to forget that, everything is available as free software in GitHub like free repository, just get an account on Rackspace or Amazon and get the full control on backend. SaaS is definitely the worst model of Cloud Computing Service models.
