Google Ranking and HTTPS : Brief Overview

Websites using HTTPS will get priority – it was just waiting for an official announcement. There are many technical aspects of HTTPS. When we moved our website from HTTP to HTTPS weeks ago. TLS itself has nothing to do with any SEO, Barry Schwartz wrongly written in a recent article – “adding a SSL 2048-bit key certificate on your site ” will give you a minor ranking boost.” The statement is technically full of wrongs. Secured Socket Layer (SSL) is not used a terminology anymore – like we have said before, it is TLS (Transport Layer Security). RSA 2048 bits is counted.

Google Ranking and HTTPS : Rejoice With Good Content!

Third party SEO will carry very lesser value after 2 years. The minimum SEO which will be required will be available as PDF (it is available from Google since many years). But neither HTTPS is easy to implement like written nor websites without evergreen and useful article with HTTPS will have any value. From Search Engine Operators’ point view, all have to deliver webpages complaint with HTTP 2.0. There are also Server Grade, Quality of the Certification which counts for HTTPS website, unlike HTTP. In other words – using TLS itself ensures that the website is using cutting edge technology, if the Grade is A, as detected by many third party tools. Recently we have published many articles on conversion to HTTPS, how can rely on Rackspace team more than Barry Schwartz like “SEO” peoples who basically used to make a huge money with “SEO Services”. Google is likely to go with full automation with machine learning. It is directly not for using HTTPS there is any reward – the reward is for allowing their newer bot to crawl with the set logics. SSL Labs tool is not today’s which people now came to know. It is obvious that, Matt Cutts or anyone will never say the full story – that is the business secret. Now, we can definitely tell you, adding this HTTPS thing has many advantages :

Google Ranking and HTTPS

  1. The Site Ownership is Verified (Google Unlikely to Give Any Importance to the Instant, Cheap Certificates)
  2. We need to load any third party javascript to prevent or detect copy pasting
  3. Bad web hosts are out – Shared Hosting Services Can Not Arrange to Add Cert More Than One to One Account!
  4. The server must have good knowledgeable peoples behind to patch
  5. Migration, honestly is not difficult but time taking – we have many articles and guides, read them
  6. Only issue is with Feedburner – Feedburner do not support HTTPS URLs. You can use the naked canonicalized Server IP address bypassing the loadbalancer’s 301 redirection in front.
  7. Google’s mention of 2048-bit will force good web host providers to update their loadbalancers.

Google Ranking and HTTPS : Webmaters Using SEO Services Should Be Penalized

If the usage of SEO Service is detected by any method, this should be made a factor in core algorithm to get penalized. Barry Schwartz has no idea about Transport Layer Security, the protocols – imagine they are making money by back linking a technology website. From honest business point of view – why this money will not be given to Google AdWords instead of a technically noob? It is a capitalistic thought to buy back links or pay for syndication services. Neither Google nor the webmaster getting any direct advantage.

In practice, any site will not go up in the SERPs just because it implements the security protocol in the connection – because it is only protocol, but this may be a contributing factor to stand out from the competition and from sites for content and popularity are placed on a level of equal rank. Usage of SEO Service is quite shady – after reading Google’s guideline, there is really nothing to optimize from the on page point of view. If Google can decrease this burden to pay the SEO Services to pay, they will get more money via AdWords. Google lately have shown positive attitude towards AdSense Publishers, we hope the same mentality will be reelected in Google Search. Else Facebook Ads, Pinterest will get more revenue. Conversion matters, not from where.
