How To Pick a Blog Niche That Makes Money

The success of many bloggers is due to their perseverance. Countless people start a blog and quit before they could have discovered the real money. Most blogs make good money after staying on the web for 7-10 years. There are various reasons why this time is required. These days, search engines do not care the new domains (buying an expired domain is a trick to circumvent it). It takes significant time to build good content and authority simply because the competition is increasing day by day. Beginners in niche selection often make mistakes. Here are a few common ones. With the strategies we have described below, you can create a profitable blogging business.

How To Pick a Blog Niche : Select by Exclusion

A generic niche is a general topic which is usually high competition and very broad. For example, one site covers Politics, Health, Tech, Fashion to automobile. Good capital is required to start and maintain a such website. Unless you have the determination to beat the bigger websites, it is better to exclude this niche.

If you realize that your present blog is in the wrong niche, you can start one or a few websites. It is rare to hear that the second, or third blog failed because of the knowledge they gained from the old blog. Essentially a blog is a business which is analogous to fishing.

Many at the beginning focus on AdSense earnings because they lack information and proper training. AdSense should not be the only criteria for profitable niche selection when AdSense is no longer in its glorious days. There are many different opportunities for monetization available to anyone which we have described in a separate article. Consider exploring the niches which would allow for more of such options for you.

In our another article, we have talked about few niches which makes significant money. We required this article to help you to pinpoint:

  1. Sub-niche selection
  2. Helping you to think about categories and landing pages

So, in our previous article, we have only pointed out that the finance and fintech niche has sponsors. If you seriously think about the finance niche, then you need to think about a category for only finance apps for smartphones. You really need not to be a student of finance since we have pointed the ways to generate content. When you choose your niche, make sure it’s something you’re passionate about and enjoy. It is difficult to continue a blog of a niche in which you have no interest but it is profitable.

How To Pick a Blog Niche That Makes Money

Before choosing a niche to target, you should consider the competitiveness of the niche. You’ll have a better chance if you pick a topic that is more popular and less competitive. Although it is not obvious today, in the future search engines may rank websites favourably if the author possesses a high level of expertise. That means, for the tech niche participation in the renowned Q&A sites (such as StackOverflow) and forums may help the search engines to know your real skillset.

Some people may tell you that, if you are an engineer then the tech niche is suitable. It is not a fact. We have seen a lot of popular blogs created by engineers get heavily penalized. We need not listen to each and every word spoken by someone from Google. An experienced SEO will tell you the real facts. Google Trends, indeed can help you learn about any topic’s search trends over time.

Learning takes a lot of time, but with daily work, you’re bound to get better. Do not become a prey of some other marketer. Any reputed shared host is good enough to start, any cloud server is good enough to continue.

You’ll know when you’ve become an expert if others start to take notice. There is nothing more useful than self-study.
