Specification for PaaS Management has been in the process to set as a standard by Oracle and their partners as Cloud Application Management for Platforms. A consortium of seven organizations, including Oracle and Red Hat, thought to produce an industry standard that should make it easier for the users to manage distributed applications in PaaS. This Specification for PaaS Management has been named as Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP), there is also free document as pdf, publicly available for Specification for PaaS Management to define generic APIs to build, run, manage, monitor cloud applications.
Specification for PaaS Management : The Need
So far the PaaS providers has provided their own interfaces for these management functions, making it difficult for the customers to move existing applications to cloud platforms that could provide management interfaces completely different than those currently in use.
It is officially said by Don Deutsch of Oracle in his blog that, Cloud Application Management for Platforms or CAMP defines a simple API that allows the customers to have an inter-operable solution between from multiple vendors to manage the life cycles of the applications easily and move the applications between the cloud. Mark Carlson has also explained that CAMP is designed specifically for the customers PaaS, which typically a cloud infrastructure that hosts the applications.

The standard, Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) does not want to define interfaces that are not strictly related to the management of PaaS. For example, if a platform provides a messaging service, CAMP will not define a standard way of sending messages. CAMP is also not linked to a particular programming language or platform. Cloud Application Management for Platforms defines interfaces that make it easier to migrate applications to Java EE environments from .net, for example.
Along with the aforementioned companies, namely Oracle and Red Hat; the other participating companies are Rackspace , CloudBees, Cloudsoft, Huawei and more. Officially it has been admitted that it is a fairly small effort compared to the need for a standard Specification for PaaS Management.
