The importance of RSS subscribers

One regular visitor has asked in a comment, whether the RSS feeds is very important or not, instead of replying through comment, we are writing this post on the topic, how much importance RSS feeds and RSS subscribers still has to offer for a blog.

Your RSS subscribers are loyal readers

These readers are used to read, and they know about your thinking, your character and your vision. So generally withimportance of RSS these people you weave the strongest links.

To increase their visits, some bloggers have chosen to turn off their feed, forcing readers to go directly to the blog. We think it is a big mistake. Indeed, a reader who reads your feeds regularly from the RSS aggregator, never visit your blog, is preferable to count him out, who will never return.

Moreover, such a tool will push off many readers, accustomed to using this technology to track their favorite blogs. It is still preferable to adopt an intermediate strategy, using a summary is one such step.

Subscribers RSS readers are usually important

The statistics show, the feeds are still rarely used – for only 10% of users, judging by the last report. Thus, we opine that these readers are mostly experienced and accustomed to surfing.

These readers have probably a blog, or are enrolled at least on a social network. They are therefore likely to relay your posts or tweets, and thus increase your visibility, and influence your audience.

An effective means of comparison

When we have a blog, it is always nice to be able to compare themselves to others and to observe the evolution of our readership over time. Indeed, we are writing primarily to be read, see that our writings are popular is probably the greatest source of pleasure and motivation.

Before, these statistics were made entirely from the site traffic. Now, the advent of RSS, and, consequently, readers who read you without using your blog to add the required number of RSS subscribers in the balance.

The monetization of a blog is far from being the most important

Readers who read our feeds noticed that our RSS feed does not display advertisements, and therefore do not contribute to monetize our blog.

There monetization models adapted to RSS feeds

For the starters, companies wants to publish sponsored posts on your blog will closely monitor the number of readers subscribed to your RSS feed.

In addition, there are solutions to include ads in your RSS feed. Either as a sponsored link, either directly as a banner. For example, it is very easy to include advertising Google Adsense in feeds Feedburners .

Using this technology one can also to reproduce your writing elsewhere. But basically, a simple link to the original article at the end of each feed avoids this problem.
