Playing Media files and customizing Windows Media Player 12

You can access Windows Media Player 12 (WMP) in Windows 7 from :By Single Clicking the WMP icon in taskbar to open the player.Or

By Right clicking over the WMP icon in the taskbar to get more options like above:

By Clicking the Start button then selecting and clicking WMP

Or

Going to the location where the file is located and double clicking it.

Changing file association

If you have recently installed some other media player, and it has changed the file association (double clicking the file opens the other player) and you want to change it back to default, here is how:

1. Right click over the file (say abc.wmv) and select “Open with…”

2. This will bring this dialog box:

3. Make sure that “Always use the selected…” is checked, select the program you want to open with (You should select WMP in the above screenshot for example) and click OK. Thats it.

Make it sure, all other Windows sounds does not disturb you:

Right Click over the volume icon in the taskbar. This will provoke this menu:

Click “Playback devices”:

Click communications tab and select the option you want, click OK . Thats it.

Customizing Windows Media Player 12

Open WMP by any way as you like (as described above).

Press [ f10 ] to get menu bar (applicable to any windows within Win 7 )…

Click “Tools” …

Select “Download” and select either “Visualizations” or “Skins” ( Make Sure that your internet connection is active)….you will be redirected to this Gallery:

As I have shown in the webpage screenshot, you can toggle between Skins, Visualizations and Plug-ins very easily.

Go to “View” in WMP and click it…

You Skins are here….

You can see the list of Visualizations when you right click over the “now Playing” window:

After selecting your visualization, lets tweak the sound… Click shown as above….click right or left button to change different settings…

Change the SRS WOW effect…

If you are sound freak like me, you can click that SRS button …

It will open a IE window (SRS Lab webpage)…

You can download this plug in trial…its really awesome…

Just taste it …

Dont forget to change the advanced settings !
