When to start monetizing from your blog?

When we started writing in The Customize Windows, we thought: should we start monetizing immediately, or would it be better to wait for traffic and readership necessarily more important as ever?

We preferred to set up these systems to monetize from day one of this blog and this was reinforced during our last theme change.

Monetize during the early days

It is the choice we made ??when creating this blog, at least our readers have been warned that there would be advertising on The Customize Windows. Making this choice can limit the bad feelings when the fact that your readers will think that your blog will never display ads. In this case, if you view advertising from day one, your readers will not be surprised to see a few more in coming months, it avoids the trick to monetize your blog that initially showed no advertisements at all.

Some prefer to wait several weeks or months to have more traffic, which means more revenue faster. The argument is that this solution is likely to lose future readers when they find an advertisement where they enter your blog.

For our part, we  advise to add advertisement, even very little from the earliest days and even if you have never used a system of monetization and gradually increase it according to the traffic. We find that seeing the climb in the account that went from $0 is more satisfying and leaves us more room to maneuver when the optimization, investment and testing of different systems.

Expected income from blog

Know the basics:

• Only few advertisement company pays well. You can get a gross idea from cubestat. Enter your website address and analyze it. For us, it is almost 90% correct.
• Do not go for Adbrite, payment wise it is horrible (pays less than we pay to a begger); we got 7 cents perday when our unique visitors were 1000/day with over 2000 pageviews/day!
• For less known companies, always open any inside page to check whether the javascript code is redirecting to other website. It is very common for less known advertising companies.
• In text Ads are good only for websites with >20,000 visitors/day or more. However, it is very disgusting for the visitors.

When I will see the real money?

From 5-6 months after the launch. Obviously, you need to create around 700 good posts during that time. Click is important.

We get 16 clicks per thousand visitors per day on average as most of our advertisement units are out of the text area. If you want more clicks, place inside the text areas.

I want to earn thousand of dollars per month…

Yes, you can. But your writing standard should be outstanding. Plus you have to think of using multiple advertising companies, have to wait for 18 months or so, you need better affiliates side by side. You can not expect to earn few thousand dollars per month with a poor quality or copy-paste blog.
