Steps to open and Edit .htaccess file in Windows 7
- You need to install gedit to open and Edit .htaccess files or other dot files. Other advanced text editors might work, but we have not tested. Honestly, gedit is far superior to edit php, CSS and other files those are important to us.
- Simply drag your .htaccess or any dot file to gedit shortcut :

- …and it will open with gedit. Alternatively, you can start gedit first then open and edit .htaccess file from the file menu :
Just Save after editing, it will work normally.
