Cloud Computing on the Desktop : Desktop as a Service (DaaS)

The term Cloud Computing is in a kind of hype at this moment in IT, I discovered this wonderful blog through Google Translated search and proposed the administrator if he can allow me to write one or two articles on Cloud Computing which are still not covered.
Kindly consider my inability to express rightly in English Language. I have used Google Translator to translate my original writing on Cloud Computing to English. I hope respected Administrator will correct my mistakes and it will not create a glith in understanding of the basics of Cloud Computing on the Desktop.

What is Cloud computing

I can see in this blog there is already an article on what is meant by Cloud Computing, So, I am not explaining Cloud Computing from the beginning, just to mention few important points.

The term Cloud Computing is a marketing concept that the reference to a specific technology, as each one defines Cloud Computing for you. In essence, the Cloud Computing provider provides online applications accessible from a web service (typically a browser), with software and data stored on remote servers. At first this architecture can be decomposed into several components, all agreed in principle on a network, including communicating with web services using Cloud Computing. Often, however, only use the two main components: the frontend and backend.

The frontend is the part that makes the user interface, the access device running the software on the Cloud Computing Infrastructure. The backend is just the cloud itself, which can theoretically be made up of several services or servers interconnected in a local network or back into the Cloud Computing platform.

Types and levels of cloud computing

Generally cloud computing is classified according to the type of provider providing the services.

Four different types of cloud computing:

Public Cloud computing
Community Cloud computing
Private Cloud Computing
Hybrid Cloud Computing

Hybrid cloud computing can also be a combination of public and private cloud cloud if some services are outsourced and other services are provided internally.

The levels of cloud Computing are :

IaaS: Infrastructure as a Service
PaaS: platfom as a Service
SaaS: Software as a Service
Days: Desktop as a Service

Desktop as a Service or DaaS in Cloud Computing

Desktop as a Service or DaaS in cloud computing is the most innovative service is not similar to any particular application, but by a user’s desktop. Users connect with a browser or other device to a remote system running on your desktop with its icons of shortcuts to applications, menu bars and other functionalities of a desktop.

Advantages of having a Desktop as a Service or DaaS on Cloud computing

In Desktop as a Service or DaaS, you can move the desktop application from its traditional location, the PC desktop or laptop PC, the cloud is a transformation that brings significant benefits as always with cloud computing is present:

Manageability : The desktop application is virtualized and run centrally on servers accessible on the network.

Zero Administration : The physical devices that users accessing your desktop can be extremely simple, without any administration. You’ll never have to make upgrades or install patches on the users’ devices.

Security : Users do not have data on their local computers, not operating system have no need to install security patches or antivirus software on each computer and because the very low cost computers are no longer palatable to property theft.

Ubiquity : A user can always connect to your desktop from anywhere, any device accessing a single copy of their applications and data.

Freedom of choice : A virtual desktop allows us to choose the platform on which applications are running freely.

Cloud Computing on desktop strategy : For desktop in the cloud computing provides several strategies that can be more or less appropriate depending on our current infrastructure and the goals we marque.

Access to desktop applications or Cloud Computing applications

First strategy is to put applications in the cloud computing platform of a typical desktop desktop instead of installation. Its the approximation of Google Docs, Google Apps or Zoho.

Access to special desks : Another strategy is to develop a completely new type of desk designed expressly to work in the cloud. Is the approach, for example, free software project EyeOS. The problem with this approach is that it is necessary to develop all the applications typical of a desktop with the chosen technology. As a result the number of applications available is limited, also depend on the supplier.

Enough is said about this new trend in Cloud computing today.
