Cloud Computing – Reasons Behind Rejection By Organizations

Cloud Computing as discussed through various articles, becoming more integrated with our work and home. Many sectors are not adapting Cloud for various reasons. In this article we will briefly discuss about the points why many organizations are quite fearful to adapt the Cloud Computing architecture and from a neutral point we will judge whether they are right on their points.

As we can see, Cloud Computing has lot of offerings – one do not need to buy expensive softwares, small companies can start a big idea in materialistic life with buying the full hardware and resources. Everything about Cloud Computing is very nice. But, if you have read the article on risks of Cloud Computing, you have noticed that, there are definite risks associated with Cloud Computing. Yes, this Security and Privacy issues are the major concern of most organizations handling the critical data. But, this are not the only points for rejecting Cloud Computing. There are more concerns with Cloud Computing.

 

What are these negative points about Cloud Computing ?

 

There were grave fallacies with distributed computing, though Cloud Computing itself has no architectural relationship with distributed computing, some side-effects of distributed computing can be seen with Cloud Computing as well.

There is no practicable metrics for measuring the performance and security of the cloud computing platform. Most Cloud Computing providers show some accreditation badges.

The claim of infinite scalability is some what a marketing gimmick. By this time, we know that Cloud Computing can face the Latency Effect.

Not all providers are reliable. Reliable providers like Google has limited applications – Google still has no consumer level Cloud Hosting Service. Cloud Computing providers like Rackspace is quite expensive for many. Even with Google, loss of data / email is not rare.

Most major Service Providers, except Rackspace, Amazon etc. are actually software companies.

For every extra service, the charge is extra, suppose a hosting service on Cloud Platform versus an usual Hosting service – ultimately the cost and complexity of usage increases with Cloud Computing.
