Demystifying the server part or technical part to? Make Money

There are lot of peoples who will do this part for you at about $ 100 now. After a time, say 6 months of usage, you will understand that, suppose I took $ 100 from you to do this part – you will understand how easy it is. Simply because these steps needs just 30 minutes work. As a corollary you can also make money by only doing these works as a service.

Purchasing a Domain Name : There are websites who sells the domain names (like thecustomizewindows.com). Like GoDaddy sells the names. You can choose any good brand. All have almost same features except the difference in pricing. Search in Google to get an idea about reputation of the brand. Keep in mind – a Top Level Domain has many obligations – you must need to provide your real details – you can hide it by using a paid service, named Privacy Protection, if you do not like to show your Apartment number publicly. I highly recommend to use Privacy Protection for personal websites, as it is really bad if your real address, phone number, e-mail is shown openly. You will read here and there that? Privacy Protection makes a site suspicious to Google and they penalize it. Know it clearly – Google can “see” your details irrespective of your?Privacy Protection status.

I highly recommend not to use Privacy Protection for websites with a business address – that means, if you have a physical shop or service and have already registered it through proper channel of your Country after paying a fee, if the website is going to represent that physical shop or service, always keep it open, i.e. do not use?Privacy Protection.

No one can force you to use or not use?Privacy Protection feature. It is your right, irrespective of the nature of the website to hide or show your real name and address for the domain. Never use wrong or fake information – it might be a crime according your country’s cyber laws.

?Regarding Adult or Hardcore containing websites – Make sure that your Country and State do not prohibit to create? Adult or Hardcore containing websites. It can be a cyber crime according to some Country/State’s Law (s). Additionally, if you are a professional who needs to sign a paper or take oath, make it sure that it does not prohibit you from moral points. Google AdSense will normally not allow to use Ads on? Adult or Hardcore containing websites. So, your way to make money from?Adult or Hardcore containing websites can only be few ways – like selling? Adult or Hardcore products like videos or images. In certain countries,?creation of Adult or Hardcore containing websites might not be illegal, but selling? Adult or Hardcore materials can be illegal. So, always consult with a lawyer about your legal rights and ask related forums for ?Adult or Hardcore website webmasters on how to proceed as most big server or webhosting brands do not allow Adult or Hardcore containing websites, most social media might not?allow sharing links of Adult or Hardcore containing websites. That makes ?Adult or Hardcore containing websites a completely different kind of business, which this website owner and writer of this post has not much idea.

After the? Privacy Protection feature, the next important thing is domain locking. By default, when you purchase a domain name, it is unlocked. You must lock it first. You can not change some settings when the domain is locked. It is wise to unlock it, change as per your need and then lock it again.?Domain locking is a good barrier to domain hijacking.

Next is secret code. Normally it is not needed. It is required for changing the brand (you can change the brand with the same domain name) or selling it. It is a proof of ownership.

Most important is this last point – name-server. You will see name-server field in your domain purchasing account. This needs to be filled with the?name-server provided by the web hosting or server company. Typically, it is two like dns1.stabletransit.com and? dns2.stabletransit.com; this is for The Rackspace Cloud Hosting.

Renting the server or web hosting : You can see in the navigation menu that we have a separate category on? web hosting. The reason is, selection of a?web host is very difficult. Moreover, people often tries to ‘push’ one? web hosting brand or the other, simply because it is a way to make money too. We use The Rackspace Cloud web hosting. This the biggest? web hosting brand in the World with 60% bigger network than Google. There is almost nothing to complain about? The Rackspace Cloud. But the problem is, it is really costly for a beginner. So, try to find out a web hosting company who has shared hosting with a good reputation.

Joining this two parts – domain name and web server : You can buy domain name from the web hosting brand too. But, I personally do not recommend it. Though it appears to be hassle free, there are web hosting brands, who ‘unofficially’ creates problems when you want to change your web hosting brand. That is why purchase two from two different brands.

I am giving my typical example, which will make you clear how these? domain name and web server are joined.

Example : I bought thecustomizewindows.com from a brand named hostindia.net – the website does not appear shinny but very gentle about the customer care. Next I went to rackspace.com and selected a web hosting plan. From? rackspace.com I learned that I need to change the name-servers to? dns1.stabletransit.com and? dns2.stabletransit.com; so I logged in to the? hostindia.net account, unlocked it, changed the name-servers, locked it then logged out. For ? rackspace.com the time taken for finding ?thecustomizewindows.com saying I am pointing it towards them takes 5 minutes to 12 hours. But, for most it takes up to 72 hours. This is called DNS propagation. After? DNS propagation has taken place, I need not to login to hostindia.net account again (except when I need to extend for the registration for the next year).

Now, the question comes, how you will understand DNS propagation is done. This is web hosting company, for my example? rackspace.com will help you.

Know that, except? rackspace.com and one or two others, most uses a typical software for the servers, this is called cPanel. cPanel has enough videos to show you how to add a domain name to the server. It is 5 minutes work, you can see a typical tutorial here. For? rackspace.com’s special package named The Cloud Sites, this is how we do it. If you face problem, you can ask via comments.

So, you have configured and installed WordPress rightly now. In the next post, we will proceed on how to customize your WordPress with Themes and Plugins. This is the actual first step to Make Money from your blog.
