About Cloud Computing and Beyond

About Cloud Computing many things has been published by us. There are more to say about Cloud Computing. This is a start up article on Cloud Computing for all. At the time of publishing this post, there are around 200 published articles on Cloud Computing. Many things has been said about Cloud Computing – some are for a general user, some are for advanced user. This article about Cloud Computing is for them, who has never understood what this hell Cloud Computing actually is.

To explain something about Cloud Computing needs deeper knowledge

If you have this kind of bad experience in life – when some of the teachers do not know the proper answer asked by a student, he / she get offended and ultimately explains with many buzz words.

Through  this practical experience (I think over 50% has this kind of experiences) I want to convey one big message about Cloud Computing – trying to know about Cloud Computing from a wrong person or seeking information about Cloud Computing from a service provider will never give you the the right answer. If you try to ask something very basic about Cloud Computing, they will make it complex due the biggest factor – has no solid knowledge base about Cloud Computing inside their head.

Approximate answer to any question about Cloud Computing with logic is far better than getting confused with a group of buzz words. Just like my father answered me with his logic once – an electronic dual powered door bell has some other power source like battery which makes it keep working when there is power cut, its approximate to the reality but this is the basic principle of a electronic door bell.

Here is something about Cloud Computing you were seeking for

It is really very easy to understand about Cloud Computing. You need to know about a computer you are surfing this page with. Need to know means, you have an idea that it has a Hard Disk that stores the data or rather you download and save pictures, songs etc., you probably have heard that there is component named Processor and Memory – the RAM. This is enough to understand about Cloud Computing.

about Cloud Computing

You neighbor also has a computer. In fact your whole neighborhood has over hundred of computers. Up to this everyone can understand. Now just think – if I make an arrangement using some wires, cables and software – so that all the hard disk adds up and acts as a single hard disk – how funny it will be – It will be of few Tera Bytes and I am promising you, if one hard disk fails on a single computer, you will not need to change it immediately – as its just one small part that went deducted from the pool of hard disks.

Now apply this same thing on RAM, Processor. Basically this is the basic about Cloud Computing. Yes, definitely this is very rudimentary example to make you understand about Cloud Computing.

For a normal household, the above example to give an approximate idea about Cloud Computing is not practical. Quite obviously – everyone will require to keep the computers on 24 x 7 – that will ultimately a bad option than upgrading your own computer.

You are surfing this website, this is actually served from a computer.  This is just a document. The computer which is supplying you the document (that is this webpage) is called server. Quite obviously, we can not switch off this computer (the server), because you or people like you will need to read it at any time.

Just like your single computer, one single server has a limited capacity. Its processor can not be made Tera Hertz. It is not possible due to limitations, moreover even if possible, it will be very costly. Now apply our neighborhood connection theory for the servers. There is no problem for servers versus your neighborhood as simply they require to be always on.

Exactly – I know what you are thinking – is it so easy to understand about Cloud Computing ? Yes it is. Now compare this interconnected network of servers with a power station. You need electricity to run almost everything at your home. Unless you are not an insane rich person, you will not try to buy a power station. Rather, you have a connection and you pay the monthly bill for using it.

What I said about Cloud Computing was said by a person – Professor John McCarthy in 1961. The reason why Cloud Computing is more getting exposure to untrained ears is nothing but for various factors which has themselves little to do about the theory about Cloud Computing – they are availability of Open Source Softwares, good hardware at lesser cost, better Internet connectivity etc.
