Image Editing and Digital Photography has quite closer relationship. Digital Images are far easy to edit technically than it was with our old Film Photography. But it is not actually only the easiness that brings Image Editing and Digital Photography closer, but there are other factors which plays a role.
Disadvantages of Digital Photography made Image Editing and Digital Photography Closer
If the image produced by an average digital camera was very closer to be perfect, there was no need of the extra hassle of Image Editing. These include over-and under-exposure, blur, contrast limitation, noise added by digital photography, crop factor, most of these were either insignificant or not at all present in Film Photography. This is the sole reason for our subheading of this article – Disadvantages of Digital Photography made Image Editing and Digital Photography Closer.
Image Editing and Digital Photography : The Limitations
The biggest difference as well as negative point with digital camera is, the main capturing media, that is the senor in case of a digital camera does varies widely in physical characteristics unlike traditional film photography, where a roll of ISO 400 film was of the same physical properties when used on just a cheaper camera or a high end SLR camera. So the makeup needed, particularly lower to mid range Digital cameras somewhat managed by Image Editing. Also a new factor, Image Processor was not present in Film cameras.
However, it is not possible to cover all the errors and artifacts by Image Editing alone. A better DSLR with proper accessories will obviously perform better than an entry level digital camera without any Image Editing. Unfortunately, particularly the noise at high ISO even for the highest available model of DSLR needs retouch through Image Editing.
But, Image Editing itself not only to manage the defects somehow. Image Editing is an art to make a photograph more artistic or technically looking superior.
