jQuery : What is jQuery with Example

jQuery is a free, extensive JavaScript – class library which features comfortable DOM manipulation. JQuery is a client side scripting under dual Open Source License model. jQuery is extensively used in various WordPress plugins. Our Navigation bar is an example of application of jQuery. Another example of simple jQuery application can be our tutorial on How to  Highlight search results in WordPress with jQuery.

Basics of jQuery

John Resig released jQuery in 2006. It was thought to be named JSelect, but as the domain name was booked before, they had to take the name jQuery.  Microsoft has jQuery in the development environment Visual Studio in connection with the ASP.NET Framework and ASP.NET Ajax integration.

jQuery is used in many content management systems and web frameworks like WordPress, MediaWiki, Drupal. jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library right now.

Usages of jQuery

jQuery with Example
jQuery includes compatibility methods that are natively available in modern browsers but need fallbacks for older ones – For example the inArray() and each() functions and supports cross browser. jQuery library is a single JavaScript file, containing all of its common DOM, event, effects, and Ajax functions. It can be included within a web page by linking to a local copy, or to one of the many copies available from publicly accessible CDNs.

A typical manipulation of DOM elements starting with the $ – or jQuery function is called a selector.

jQuery is hugely used in various WordPress Plugins to create various animation effects with out making the webpage too much heavy. Here is an example. Simple click the Press This button below and you will see the screen has as if filled up with a translucent black screen. Scroll the page to top to get a popup box, otherwise you will not find a way to get rid of this jQuery effect!.

This is an example jQuery popup!

Yeh it works this is some useless information. Just to fill this space
you can put anything you would like here. Maybe a form or maybe a logo,
what about a subscription form or advertisments. Anything that you want.

How we have created this jQuery effect inside this post

People says the css and js needed to be included within head to get the jQuery effect on WordPress post. I have embedded the things within this WordPress post itself using my normal logic. I simply added the rel tags within this page and used old good HTML to get this jQuery. That will be another post to make you create jQuery effect in any WordPress page or post without plugins.
