Rackspace Cloud, OpenStack, Ubuntu Cloud and Juju can be used to setup your own Private Cloud or a Public Cloud.This is a preface article on Rackspace and Juju. A bit off-topic but its quite interesting fact Juju in Bengali language is an arbitrary monster, the name word Juju is still used to control nagging children by the mothers. But it is definite that Rackspace with Open Stack and Ubuntu Cloud with Juju, has definitely showing and shown the real Juju (the Bengali meaning) to Microsoft. It is a matter of fact, Ubuntu is now most used guest OS on Rackspace, Amazon, HP and Windows Azure as Official Ubuntu Cloud Guests.

 

Rackspace Cloud, OpenStack, Ubuntu Cloud and Juju : What the heck you are saying about ?

 

It is quite easy to run or Install Ubuntu. Juju is a community of DevOps. If you want to enjoy the luxury of Private Cloud using Rackspace Cloud Server, you have quite big range of options :

 

  • OpenStack cloud and your Ubuntu for Private Cloud
  • Ubuntu Server includes all the components of OpenStack, obviously free to set up, use, and maintain from your Ubuntu machine plus combination with Rackspace Cloud Next Generation Cloud Servers based on OpenStack.

 

Rackspace Cloud, OpenStack, Ubuntu Cloud and Juju : Extending the possibilities

 

Own Ubuntu Server with Rackspace Cloud Server is great to think for setting up your own IaaS or PaaS. But actually that setup is suitable for development purpose. It is not a matter of joke to run a Ubuntu Laptop as a datacenter’s PC. It is good to write a tutorial by me and show – at $20 per month, you can get your own private cloud with Rackspace Cloud Server. You main problem will be power backup and consistency with Internet connection. For developmental purpose you can use Rackspace Cloud Server Plus your Ubuntu Desktop Server with Internet Load Balancing. But from my experience, the hardware actually begin to fail.

Simply use another Rackspace Cloud Server as your desktop ! You can easily manage with any VNC client like we wrote how to setup your own VNC with Ubuntu.
