Framing, Resizing, Adding Signature are not that much discussed in any Photography related websites than tips on usage of Adobe Photoshop for Post Processing. For an artistic good quality image, these points – Framing, Resizing, Adding Signature are very important and most newbies constantly does the wrong. You can read a basic guide and example on Post Processing in Adobe Photoshop for Digital Photography here or watch a video guide on Post Processing in Adobe Photoshop here. As I am not a person from literature, it is basically difficult for me to express these processes of Framing, Resizing, Adding Signature in text. Although the maximum will be tried for you.

Framing, Resizing, Adding Signature in Your Digital Photograph : Basic Considerations

All these processes can be done on Adobe Photoshop (Extended or non-Extended does not matter). It is understandable that all can not buy Adobe Photoshop. But its more true that Adobe Photoshop is the standard and I also can not buy or try hundreds of softwares. There is practically no need of any kind of software if you have Adobe Photoshop. Learning Adobe Photoshop is a mandatory point today as it is the digital darkroom for your photographs. Most professionals prefer Mac with proper calibrated monitor. We wrote about all of these points before.

So if you are using another alternative software or system, please change the wording of steps for your own software.

Tips on Framing

Digital Framing can destroy a Photograph. Most professionals do not like using a border like frame around their photographs. Even if it is needed, add a Black or 50% gray colored thick frame.

If you want decorated virtual photo frames, perform a Google Image search with the word Frame – you will get lot of copyright free Photoframes.

Resizing is important

Resizing down to a size that is practically makes a print work impractical to think (to steal by the others) is very important. People has the inherited habit of stealing images / photographs, even some sells as stock.

Adding Signature in Your Digital Photograph

Unless you are professional photographer or want some traffic, there is practically no need to add a signature over a digital photograph to make it ugly. As basically resized images are difficult to re-use ; adding a signature makes it pathetic from artistic point of view. There are laws to remove your copyrighted work plus you have the original image as a proof to be the original owner.

Secondly, you have no written consent or agreement with everything that are on your photo. So, legally there is very little plus point. Playboy adds logo / name as they have properly taken written consent of the model plus the studio setup is usually legally owned by them. Its a part of marketing strategy to attract people to buy the magazine.

Special Precaution for Female Photographs

As female models has marketing value and it is beyond any one’s control to prevent downloading picture from Facebook, deviantArt, Flicker etc. places and use as model’s picture on a small company’s product on a different country, it is always better to limit the number, frequently search the Internet with the file name, resize to a minimum size.
