Why Do My Pictures look Flat ?

Why do my pictures look flat ? Why is it that everyone yawns out of boredom when I want to show my photography ? These are the questions that some of us ask. It is altogether easy to avoid the awkward framing and photos throughout. It is also quite simple, when you know a few rules to orchestrate the elements of an image to make the viewer want to look for longer. And if it is not all good at the time of taking photographs, the image editing softwares used to finalize the composition in post-processing.

Why do my pictures look flat ?

Photograph is not just pressing the shutter button! Even if the “click clack smile and it’s in the box” often gives good results, it limits the possibilities of creative effects and is powerless in difficult situations (night, low light …).

Above all, it does not invite to be active, to really examine what we can show by a photograph. Today we take the lesson at this point. Now that the desire is there, the various commands along your camera you are most familiar, we will spend at the side of the composition. Now, charge your batteries, fill up memory cards, we will take you for a walk !

  2. Rule of Thirds

We can say that photography is in the real to select something that interests us. We identify in our environment elements that orchestrate particularly well, and valid this composition that suits us by cutting through the camera. Depending on the scope of the lens, the sensor format, we are able to make different cuts. We walk, we look around that surrounds us as a framework to match the capabilities of our aircraft and is triggered when it coincides with items that catch our attention. For better fit, we approach, we go back, we change the lens if the camera allows, but the principle remains the same.

There is no need to look especially good things every time when shooting. Rules, even if they are simple and well understood, become too restrictive when trying to apply a systematic way : for the family photo, you can forget about anything, because anyway these pictures have a very great interest to us! The composition is mainly important when you want the images to have an interest for the others : a well composed picture will attract the attention.

It can even grow without straying a further rapprochement with the literature and that the rules of composition are the grammar of photography, the colors are the words … but the purpose is not here to be lyrical. It suffices to understand the reading in terms of eye movements. We usually unknowing look at an photograph in a Z pattern.

If you place your subject in the center of the image, the eye will find it directly and quickly emerge as the picture he has entered. However, a good image works quite differently: it accompanies the eye to the subject and makes him want to linger in the composition. Whenever possible, it is even arrange to make “captive”.

Other important point is shooting in various situations like :

  • To Shoot in Rain with Digital Camera
  • Photos Inspired by Nature
  • Action and Sports with Digital Camera

Be creative, your photograph will automatically draw the audience.
