Electronic Test Equipment : Basic Guide for the Commonly Used Instruments

A network analyzer is an instrument that measures the network parameters of electrical networks.

Audio Analyzer is a test and measurement instrument used to objectively quantify the metrics covering a wide variety of parameters, including level, gain, noise, harmonic and intermodulation distortion, frequency response, relative phase of signals, inter channel crosstalk etc.

A VU meter helps to quantify the signal level in audio equipment.

A multimeter is the most commonly used electronic measuring instrument that combines several measurement functions in one unit.

We can only provide a basic idea. There are users who has excellent websites on these meters. They usually have a part on their website for reviews of these instruments. Exactly like for Cloud IaaS provider, we can tell you more than a budget multimeter. For most of the basic DIY works, a digital multimeter costing $10 – $18 is enough. People usually buy from Amazon or Ebay.

There is another tool named handheld clamp multimeter (Clip on Meter). These can measure the parameters on live line – this can be helpful for your need. Digital multimeters can offer more combined features of other meters.
