How to Get Started With Oribi: The Advanced Web Analytics

Oribi is a paid advanced web analytics that is designed to help the marketing goal of a website in an automated fashion so that anyone can install the tracking code and draw the conclusion from the insight.
Most of us heard or using the free version of Google Analytics. Google had a paid advanced analytics tool named Urchin (a decade back, we have discussed Urchin). Google discontinued Urchin and launched a paid version of Google Analytics named Google Analytics 360. Oribi is a competitor of the paid advanced web analytics, which includes Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics and IBM Digital Analytics (Coremetrics). Google Analytics 360, IBM Coremetrics and Adobe Analytics require technical assistance and an implementation guide. Personal support of Google Analytics 360 is non-existent and skilled manpower to work with IBM Coremetrics is not easy to find.

Who Should Use Oribi?

As because Oribi uses cloud-based services as a backend, its cost is lower than the competitors. Because Oribi proved to be easy, and an automated system, from Audi, Sony to TechCrunch all are now using Oribi. Oribi is suitable for two types of customers (from our understanding) –

  • E-commerce owners
  • Digital Marketing Consultants
  • Agencies

As a marketing agency, we spend time pulling out some insights from knowledge. The result becomes a suggestion with a report – we can say exactly where to invest – Twitter or Google search. With oribi, many of those insights are automatically pre-generated. It saves our time and the decisions are data-driven. Oribi can automatically understand the Contact Us button on your site is for contacting you!

Oribi will help to reduce the frequency of hiring marketing agencies or employing dedicated manpower. You have noticed that Google Analytics offer a lot of “trends” but never understood their value. They are for helping you to classify in this manner:

100 visitors landed from Twitter
70 among them watched the product for x minutes
10 among them ordered the product
60 among them searched from product x,y,z
30 among them ordered their choice of product

Oribi understands your funnels. Google Analytics is less powerful which delivers you a feel “I am not good around understanding funnels”! The free Google Analytics of course can deliver a good insight, but site-wide implementation is not easy.

What is the Cost of Oribi?

Oribi will cost you $675 per month for visitors less than a thousand a month, the plan can be shared within 3 domains and data will be retained for 6 months. As the data will not be retained for many years, we suggest having the proper planning to utilize the insights obtained by their system.

How to Get Started with Oribi

It is very easy. Sign up and start using the demo version of Oribi. Follow the next steps and you will be able to create an actionable report yourself.

Signup for Oribi by clicking here!

After the initial sign-up process, you’ll be offered a piece of Javascript tracking code (exactly like Google Analytics) after asking you the domain name. You need to insert it through some plugin, in the case of WordPress, you can use any WordPress plugin which injects code at the header or can use the official WordPress plugin offered by Oribi. Simply wait for minutes, Oribi will automatically detect and verify the installation.
Oribi will take 24 hours to present you the initial dashboard like this screenshot :

If we click the first option of the left-hand side menu (i.e. All Visits), we will get Visits and Conversions like any other web analytics. Oribi requires www to non-www redirection. This is important to correctly set up. On the “All Visits” page, you’ll get all the common details of the visitors :

Scrolling that webpage, you’ll get the traffic source (channels), devices (Platforms) and their country of origin. Oribi has shown us the conversion (which in our case is email subscription) :

The second option of the left-hand side menu (i.e. Explore Button Clicks), will give you the idea of what the visitors clicked on the webpage, and how many visitors clicked a particular button, you can select your choice from a drop-down menu :

This total setup is automated! We have done nothing more than inserting the tracking Javascript.
The third option of the left-hand side menu (Explore Page Visits) is very important. This webpage will show you whatever the visitors have clicked on the top landing pages, for example, this is our home page :

The next menu is “Visitor Journeys”, this screenshot will give you an idea of how powerful is Oribi :

Among the next options, “Event Correlations” and “Reports” are extremely interesting. Any media company will feel excited with Oribi’s highly customizable reporting. The total collected data is made a PDF by the system in an automatic manner – you can change the colour scheme, logo and deliver it to your desired email address.
Among the other features, you can connect with some of the platforms including Facebook Ads, Google Analytics, Google Ads and MailChimp. Connecting with Mailchimp is a great feature. It is possible to match the email addresses of leads through that site and funnel to watch any trends or interest areas.

You can get started with Oribi here! It’s free to test and does not require a credit card.

What is the Conclusion?

We want to end this “getting started guide” here simply because Oribi has 7 days free trial, which does not need a credit card to check.

The above screenshots tell you the fact – by just inserting a tracking code, we can uncover a lot of details of the visitors. Of course, this is possible even with Google Analytics but the arrangement is not easy to implement. Also, many of the users (or employees) lack the expertise to correctly identify the elements of a webpage that requires the insertion of a tag. As the total system is automated, you start analyzing like a professional just after 24 hours.
Oribi themselves has a nicely organized help section to get started, and also YouTube Videos. Before using Oribi, I checked the reviews of Oribi on G2. Except for one customer (who has mentioned Diib), most are satisfied with Oribi. Diib is a different tool for SEO purpose, here is a screenshot from Diib :

Diib When Compared to Semrush or Moz

Diib is costs 1/3rd when compared to a lot of SEO tools including MOZ, however our test will tell you that it does not worth it. It is a different topic, though.

Oribi is an automated advanced web analytics tool for helping your marketing campaigns which does the job as advertised.
