For example, an author can write articles but can not publish an Editor. The user management is very interesting when several blogger or you offer your readers to write articles .

The pages

With WordPress you can upload pages, it is, as the name implies, static pages that are found outside the usual chronology of the blog, they will not appear natively in the middle of sections and neither in the RSS feed. The pages, like articles, can be protected by a password, for example, restrict a particular area.

Comments

Each item or page, can be commented by readers. You can of course close the comments for some articles, or make them available only to registered users, etc.. The system also supports standard of trackback / pingback between blogs.

Anti-spam

Spam is a major scourge in the blogosphere, fortunately WordPress natively integrates a high performance anti-spam: Akismet! This spam is integrated as a plugin, it must first be activated using a key. Do not worry, you can retrieve a key for free and easily by registering on the site WordPress website.

Updates

Thanks to the community and the work of developers, WordPress is regularly updated. Between major updates adding new features to the platform, there are often security updates that fix bugs. If you maintain your blog (this point will be discussed in an article in this series), it will be constantly improving and will be well protected.

Import / Export

You come from another blog platform (Dotclear, TypePad, Movable Type, etc.) and want to upgrade to WordPress? No problem because the platform includes tools for import and repatriate items from your old blog comments. The reverse is also possible, you can easily export your WordPress blog if you want to switch to another system.

Media Library

Incorporated into the administration of the blog, you can use this library to add new documents (photos, video, audio, PDF, etc..) Without having to open your FTP. Everything is organized and smoothly from your browser. You can then attach and integrate these documents at any post or page of your blog.

XML-RPC interface

A strange name that identifies a protocol for managing and publishing articles on your WordPress blog without needing to be connected. If you prefer to use third party software like Windows Live Writer or Mars Edit to publish articles on your blog, it’s quite possible, simply activate the option!

WYSIWYG

No need to know HTML to write in WordPress! When writing an article you can use the toolbar to spend part of your text bold or italic, change the font size, etc. and you will see the changes live. And for those who want to use the HTML is possible, in one click you can switch from one to another.
