Cloud and SME : Perfect But Requires Knowledge

Cloud and SME is often appears a good option because the budgets are reduced, often absent and a substantial contribution to the company’s balance sheet. For this reason, cloud computing, especially as platform as a service, it is excellent in SMEs.

Cloud and SME : The Platform as a Service Models

Usually nobody wants to invest thousands of dollars to change the company’s management, a solution such as from SalesForce allows you to pay according to consumption, according to the people who use it on an annual basis, here is the advantage of cloud and SME’s closeness.

The same goes for e-mail, for dedicated servers and tens of IT functions that a small business must still have but can be very expensive. Cloud and SME’s co-inhibition is not always optimal for a SME, but this is not for lack of anything from this technology, more than anything else for a mix of fear, inability to control IT resources and inexperience.

Cloud and SME : Perfect But Requires Knowledge

Cloud Server Management and peaks : If until yesterday the upgrade process wasto add a server, upgrade the RAM or the CPU, with a cloud infrastructure that is not needed. If in your organization want to use an IaaS cloud service, which is going to replace one or more of your server, make sure you fully understand how you can use a load balancer and instances deployed in the cloud. You will need it if redundancy is not almost a must for you.

Cloud-and-SME

Security: Removing the server that you have in the office, makes everything to become go virtual. But how to access the cloud? VPN and security policies are not always clear. Do not let that everything works because it costs less. Security is critical to move data from your corporate headquarters to the cloud, it is not a technological problem, it is only a matter of policies and measures, your admin should first study the right strategy, both for business and for those devices Mobile and then implement the appropriate rules for data access. The cloud is usually composed by instances of virtual spaces but also use the cloud storage.

Backup: Backup management changes, no more tapes or external HD as still happens in many companies. In addition to a backup policy more seriously, the best investment is adequate connectivity to bring the data outside of the office, which is essential to ensure the backup for the client and server in the cloud. The backup in the cloud is usually less expensive, with the advantage of having replicated data in real time across multiple data centers.

The transition to cloud computing, whether for a few services / server or entirely, is a source of savings for the average small business, there is no doubt about this, but you must first of all make sure you have the right knowledge or to invest in order to have direct advice from the provider to whom you speak. Many of the problems that we read are due to the mentality of the companies, not wanting to really detach from the physical machines, but it is an old concept and the future of IT is not just cloud computing (which represents the starting point as explained in this article ), first and foremost point for outsourcing to the cloud. If this is not entirely possible, as in cases in which data are too sensitive, then the solution is the hybrid cloud.
