Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress : Handy Guide

Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress Can Difficult to Implement By the Relatively New Users or Users With Less Idea About Coding. Here is a full but easy guide. Basically, we talked about these all points in various articles among our ~5000 articles on this website. The basic reason to start tis guide is to answer to a Quora user, who later Twitted the author of this guide :

@AbhishekCTRL Hi Abhishek , Thanks for the answer on quora, I need some more help & suggestion from you? Can you help me in that?

” Umar Daraz (@mynameisdaraz) February 10, 2014

Later, Umar Daraz contacted via Facebook; he is a business owner, has good idea about SEO (at least the basics) but faced issue with implementing Hentry markup. We later discovered, his website has another two weak points – Page Speed and badly coded theme.

So, what an average user should do, what to follow? It is not really possible for everyone to hire a professional to get some help on :

  1. Page Speed
  2. Front End Designing
  3. Front End Optimization
  4. Applying WordPress specific tricks
  5. Following the trends of Semantic Web and HTML5 to current
  6. Using the Right

Bill Erricson is quite efficient coder for WordPress, Joost de Valk can provide better idea on Microformat, but if ALL are needed to hired, honestly it is impossible except the larger enterprise grade business to have a modern website. No, we should correct the few areas ourselves and hire professionals only for the few parts in divided manner. Bill Erricson possibly will charge $2000 excluding the design. He definitely deserves to claim so, same goes for Joost de Valk and others. Bill Erricson, Joost de Valk, Jeff Starr (PershablePress) or we; all of us provide fully free resources for the webmasters for using their own capabilities and using our tricks for optimizing the WordPress website.

One must not get shamed to say – “I can not carry the cost” but a professional blog owner (On Internet, most basically started as blogger) must offer free stuffs too, obviously; premium will carry extra personalized tweaks.

Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress : Let Us Think About Server

Umar’s website, when we tested on webpagetest.org ; it was pathetic. It is quite normal to find a WordPress user get trapped in using a badly coded theme on a medium quality server. As HP, Amazon, RedHat, Rackspace, Heroku Cloud and various brands with Public Share has different offers today, there is absolutely no meaning to go with a medium size server company today – unless they have some CMS specific optimized offerings. They are less in number and has limitations for the advanced users. Also, in the time of getting acquired by larger brands, it is a point to think to use the brand with more bell and whistles (Capital, Net Growth etc. points).

So, as far Hosting goes, we would rank RedHat OpenShift PaaS Free option as the first option for those who are constricted by budget. Heroku comes as next option, App Fog being the third in PaaS market. We have full installation guides for WordPress plus videos on this website – kindly perform a search with your point to know, we do not want to get off topic. Kind of PaaS (Actually aPaaS) is offered by Rackspace too with the name Rackspace Cloud Sites. We will give it the highest score for managed and paid aPaaS segment. But, Rackspace Cloud Sites seriously fails on features compared to Paid RedHat OpenShift PaaS (both cost the same for highest option from RedHat). Support and backend is really excellent of Rackspace Cloud Sites.

Now, on the IaaS segment; Amazon, Rackspace and HP – all almost cost the same, more or less. Rackspace and HP has more flexible platforms, Rackspace has the fanatical support. Rackspace Dedicated Server is not required by the most common websites. GitHub runs on Rackspace Dedicated Server due to their huge need of dedicated resource.

The cost difference of Rackspace Dedicated Server and various COLORED named hosts is significant – 10 times or more. This difference is due to quality and duration of usage of a hardware, isolation at hardware level etc. Dedicated Server is really not required by the most.

Rackspace, still date; got the highest vote from our tests. Yes, Rackspace is costly but really their quality of support and knowledge of the Rackers on UNIX exceeds any others’ support.

A good host provides a stable DNS, a practical SLA, really 24×7 backend support. We do not recommend to use cPanel on KVM virtualization.

We delibarately avoided linking towards any guide for this “Let Us Think About Server” sub-header of Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress named article. We wrote before that, ngnix performs far better than Apache. Obviously, forcing MySQL to NoSQL speeds up.

Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress : Page Speed Part

As for Apache2, that includes Rackspace Cloud Sites; we have some speed up guide :

  1. Ways to Test Your Website Performance for Page Speed
  2. Speed up WordPress by Gzip Compression from .Htaccess and php flush
  3. Google Content Delivery Network with Page Speed CDN Service
  4. Ultimate Guide to Page Speed Optimization for WordPress
  5. mod_pagespeed and Google PageSpeed Service
  6. php.ini file and Page Loading Speed for Rackspace Cloud Sites
  7. Optimizing Page Speed for Rackspace Cloud Sites Plus Google Page Speed

Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress Can Difficult to Implement

Needless to say, WordPress can use Fragment Caching now as we mentioned before and How to use WordPress Transients For Caching.

Structured Data, Page Speed for WordPress : Structured Data and Schema.org

What basically we need to know is Semantic Web. Google has good answer about Structured data :

Now, think how Google is understanding or rather considering a Human Today, this is a special link for me, Abhishek Ghosh. We wrote about it but going in the Authorship part but these are possibly helpful articles :

Adding Schema.org Structured Data in Genesis Theme, Rich Snippets and Organization of Schemas ( & alt like abnormal codes might show now as we are also upgrading Manually) and obviously you can check yourself with self hosted tool instead of Google’s tool. Obviously you need few stuffs for Rich Pins Pinterest, Object Meta Tags for Facebook Open Graph Protocol.

We are talking about Genesis only, because honestly never tested other Theme Platforms.
