One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS

One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS – Quite Frequently it is Asked What is the Practical Advantage or Disadvantage of One Cloud Server. The Question is sent via Contact us form of this website, by a regular visitor, possibly planning to host WordPress website. We performed a Google Web Search, as expected; there are more Adverts than any useful information. First and Foremost important point about web hosting is – who is the provider.

One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS : Yes Difference Exists

The Question, One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS arrives as usually a Cloud Server cost higher than a Traditional VPS or Virtual Private Server. The first point we already said at the beginning of this article – it matters who is the provider. We never used but saw the poor performance of Blue|Green|Yellow|White|Red Hosts – not VPS, they claim as Dedicated Server at $100 per month.

Probably you are aware that, Github uses Dedicated Server. In this context, we will suggest to read – How to Detect Application is Running within a Virtualized OS Instance. Yes, they are not really “Dedicated” in true sense. A good Dedicated Server will cost around 500 USD per month. The reasons are – need of Dedicated Hardware (which will die after 6 – 12 months, in part or full) components, Dedicated Isolated Networks etc. We take a high end Dedicated Server equivalent to a Datacenter for the purpose of connecting for Hybrid Cloud.

On those so called $150 per month Dedicated Server ( pun intended ), one Virtualization Software is Installed and few Virtual Dedicated Servers are created as Guests – they becomes VPS. Everything is is Shared, but the way of sharing is not like elastic – if someone tears away one cable, all VPS will fail. Downtime, in traditional words will be very higher. It is improbable to get more than 98% uptime.

One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS : One Cloud Server is a Part of IaaS

Practically, one Cloud Server has no “real” physically identifiable hardware. They are allocated from a pool of Nodes. If one Server fails, it will not matter much. Good to read – False Appearance of Cloud by Means of Promotive Ads.

One Cloud Server Versus One Traditional VPS

Flexibility and Scalability are the Key Benefits of Cloud Computing, practically that will be available for only one cloud server. But, who is the provider matters most – Rackspace, IBM, Red Hat, Fujitsu, Dell, HP, ServerBeach etc. known brands really throw away their hardware after a certain time. There are various Service Models of Cloud Computing – SaaS, PaaS, IaaS etc. Actually, there are Characteristics For Being a Cloud Application, Errors in Deployment of Applications and Websites on the Cloud are quite common.

The older Web Applications like WordPress actually needs a bit tweak to run in a kind of legacy mode. That is why, usually we use a different server for the Database than from the main server. But, grossly; one Cloud Server will outperform one Traditional VPS with equivalent specs. Again, the provider is the important factor. If you can not afford IaaS or Cloud Server, select PaaS as a cost saving option.
