Plastic Building Blocks For Electronics & Robotics

Plastic Building Blocks Can Be Used For Electronics & Robotics. We Can Join Them To Use Permanently, Add Conductive Foil or Conductive Paint. Our Old Plastic Building Blocks Has Been Reinvented Now. As we have said before, still today, 3D Printing is not so much cost effective that we can do whatever we want. We talked about 3D Printing services too. CNC service is better choice for electronics and electrical DIY works. Such a small project was written for creating Arduino UNO box.

Plastic Building Blocks : The Reinvented Wheel

If your condition is like me – single, young, no kids, not a kid; you need a bit education about Plastic Building Blocks. Otherwise you’ll get fully ripped off. As customer, you are poor father or mother, kid’s health does not matter. Whether they are healthy (?) to chew, tastes good, smells great you need not to know. Your kid throws stuffs. Whenever you’ll query to the seller, you’ll make sure that it does not break. Do not reveal that you are buying for electronics work. Cost will slowly get increased with increased consumption/demand. Still their price tags are within buying range for non-Lego plastic building blocks or rather toy blocks.

Lego clone unfortunately as costly as Lego. These are “Erector Set” or “Construction Set”. One company reinvented the wheel by manufacturing Lego like DIY electronics kits. It costs like Lego. It is not suitable for hardcore DIY works.

Plastic Building Blocks : Lego Like Blocks and Erector Set

Erector Set it great toy! Because they are for building cranes like things, 27 years ago when I was 3 years old, I had one set, I played with DIY electronics kit around 7 years to 15 years too. Thereafter where they gone, its difficult to say. My mother will say “I do not know”, I went to medical school, at that time, I guess the cleaning work has been done. Back to topic – that set was great. It had miniature yellow colored plates with holes, plastic nuts and screws. I can recall, the same 3V motor I am using, I used it to control the pulley. I recalled while writing, it is my mother who gave that DC Motor back like angel, so definitely the other stuffs has been cleaned them up.

In very short, I used once, I guess the whole idea is not bad. I did minimal online shopping and found some useful points. Basically if the package looks older, kids hugely dislike them, not always the manufacturers’ resellers take them back, then they undergo go either sell in that state or re-packaged in unbranded way to sell at somewhat more than purchasing cost. Again – you are a poor father or mother. Your kid has seen something from somewhere and making you mad to buy. Online forums may be helpful. Kid’s age 4 years, it is male, I mean your son. Doctor has suggested you to entertain with these toys. Why that pediatrician has not told you. You are anxious but limited by budget.

The world, unfortunately is not so kind. But, again – Made in China is saving the DIY works, if they understand the demand market, price may go up. Already some peoples made Arduino-Lego robots.

Usual costs for non-Lego blocks set is around $10 for 50-60 blocks. There is no reason to think that they are very cheap. Many toy manufacturers have started towards somewhat ready to use “toys”, 100% suitable for Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc. These are not good.

Plastic Building Blocks : Adhesive Fix, Drill Machine and Conductive Surface

A conductive, isolated surface will make it useful, you do not have to use so many jumper wires. Drill is needed for practical reason – to add metal nuts, creating “plug” for the jumper wires.

“Electrically Conductive Adhesive Transfer Tapes” or rather Conductive Tapes and Conductive Paints are available for electronics. It is possible to make excellent circuit with such pen. You will be using real good chassis for wheeled robot chassis. These blocks will help for shielding from dust, extending in practical way.
There is nothing to say about adhesive. Use water based adhesive which are known not to be permanent for temporary usage. Epoxy will permanent fix. It takes huge time to fix with Epoxy. 1 to 1 block – approximately takes 8 hours to set. Be careful about permanent fix.
