Legitimate media companies seek influencers for sponsorships. They will not ask the influencers “we need the link to be dofollow, and there should not be any disclosure”. I know that a good number of people send bloggers emails for buying dofollow links with a $10 to $200 budget. They are SEO people. They will judge your website based on SEO metrics – mainly of Moz. They will not offer you huge money simply because they just need a dofollow link and they have offered their clients some package. They are not at all bad people. Their segment is different.
Unfortunately, many bloggers fail to learn how to find legitimate companies that are seeking influencers. They usually become prey to the shady agencies which buy links at a cheap rate. We want that you have a steadily increasing money with increasing reputation. Selling links definitely can save you at the months of hardships but selling links must not become your major source of earning. It is best if you have a relationship manager who will communicate with the clients. You or that person should guess whether the person is looking for a dofollow link or a sponsored post. So, your first work is to segmentation of your clients in this manner :
- Clients who are seeking a dofollow link — Even if you sell links, do not promote the brands. You are not paid for promoting.
- Clients who are seeking genuine sponsored posts — Deliver genuine effort and charge a standard rate which most bloggers will agree.
I can tell you at least two sources where the brands find influencers for “sponsored post” (which will have a nofollow link and a disclaimer) :
There are a lot of such “marketplaces”, this article wanted to tell you about the decent charge.
I would suggest you have a media kit and prepare some case studies. If you sold links before, show a few of the best clients as clients of sponsorships and present them in case studies! That is slightly risky but, this is an idea I gave you to present yourself as “experienced”.
How much do we charge? I charge $1000 per article, and I include social shares and graphics as a freebie. We are DA 54 blog of 10+ years with a spam score of 1%, 30K unique hits per month, 22K followers on Pinterest, 10K followers on Twitter and FB combined. And all these followers are genuine humans. I am sure that many of the bloggers with far better statistics are simply fooled. Even if you have one client per month, that is far better than selling 5 links in a month. I know that starting a journey in the world of sponsorship is not easy, but you can rely upon me and the other bloggers, influencer marketing is steadily growing. You should be careful to protect your blog from the eyes of Google and have a decent earning. These are few good resources for you:
Do not forget to create good contents with and without affiliate links. Often, good articles and good graphics attracts the advertisers.
