Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, exactly like its predecessors has no socket for 3.5mm IEM/earphone jacks, instead there is a USB Type C port which supports USB direct audio. To use your existing 3.5mm IEM, at least you need to separately purchase Samsung’s Type C to 3.5mm cable (which is enough good for that price). Naturally, as the title suggests, we need to talk about some DACs for smartphones, IEMs and music players.
Which DAC is Good for Samsung S24 Ultra
After purchasing S24 Ultra, insurance, screen protector, charger and official flip cover not many users have the financial freedom to purchase the flagship DAC and/or flagship IEMs. Hence, if your budget is too low then we will suggest you purchase Samsung’s Type C to 3.5mm cable.

FiiO KA5 DAC is a great DAC for smartphones since it costs around $150 and offers a balanced port. Astell & Kern HC3 does a similar basic job at $200. A comparison comes to mind. Astell & Kern HC3 supports the MQA format while FiiO KA5 does not. Although support for MQA is of no use in the real world. Astell & Kern HC3 is a basic DAC with a balanced output. The users voted FiiO KA5 higher (4.5 to 5 out of 5) than Astell & Kern HC3 (3 out of 5). There is no endgame for portable DAC. Any audiophile forum and shops will tell you the names of the flagship DAC which can cost you $1200 or more.
It is safe to say that the FiiO KA5 DAC is better than Samsung’s Type C to 3.5mm cable. Unless you have a lot of money or a professional around sound production, probably you’ll tend not to spend more.

Which IEM/Headphone is Good for Samsung S24 Ultra
HiFiMan RE-400 Waterline is an affordable earphone with 3.5mm jack, this is not a balanced earphone. It is good with Samsung’s USB C to 3.5mm converter cum DAC. It is fully compatible with FiiO KA5 but you’ll not perceive the quality of FiiO KA5.
You can think of Tin P1. This costs around $150 and sounds better than many of the costlier IEMs. It is driven by planner magnetic technology. Planner magnetic headphones are quite costly and require a good amp to drive. Do not forget to try Final Audio e tips or Spinfit tips. They are better than the tips supplied with the IEMs.
You can use Sennheiser HD 600 or HiFiman Sundara with FiiO KA5 but they will be whipping your smartphone’s battery. Itself FiiO KA5 will suck your smartphone’s resources. A larger headphone will drain it faster. These are better with a desktop DAC/amp with an external power supply. Sony IER-Z1R IEM costs the same as Samsung S24 Ultra and the series delivers one of the largest soundstage IEMs can offer.
Which Music Player is Good for Samsung S24 Ultra
The default Samsung Music player is not bad but it is PowerAmp which is probably the best music player for the abovementioned setup not only because it supports high-resolution audio but because it has a large community. This article is not sponsored by PowerAmp.
Just purchasing the PowerAmp app will not deliver you the best experience. We have an article on PowerAmp Settings for Higher Sound Quality so that you can tweak your app.
Conclusion
The more you’ll pour money towards IEMs/Headphones and DAC, the more the quality will be. A $30 IEM can not be compared with a $1500 IEM. But, most people on this earth are not audiophiles with half a million dollars per month in earnings. Limiting the budget to $200-$300 for each component is usually what people around the world do.
