The S Pen is a stylus or digital pen that comes with selected Samsung Galaxy devices including the S24 Ultra. This pen can be used to write, draw, navigate the device’s touchscreen or perform some other action. The S Pen is pressure-sensitive, which allows for more precise input than a finger.
Learning how to use the S Pen of your S24 Ultra can be tricky – many features and tricks can be easy to get overlooked. The S Pen is essentially a device designed to interact with OneUI. In this article, we’ll take you through the different ways you can make the most of your stylus and give you some great tips for getting started.

Useful S-Pen Features for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
First check the settings
Navigate to Settings > Advanced features > S Pen. Here, you’ll find these options, we have suggested the “correct” settings useful to most users:
- Air actions ON
- Air view Standard style
- S Pen to text ON (read the instruction on the “How to edit” link there), Show writing toolbar ON
- When S Pen is removed Do nothing
- Screen off memos ON
- Quick notes ON
- More S Pen Settings:
- S Pen Unlock OFF
- Allow multiple S Pens OFF
- Keep S Pen Connected OFF
- Warn if S Pen is left behind ON
- Sounds ON
- Vibrations ON

S Pen to text
It is useful. It is more useful than we normally assume since Samsung added some gestures to overcome the odd issues we face while writing with a stylus on a convertible laptop, tablet, smartphone etc.

Warn if S Pen is left behind
You must keep this option ON to avoid easily getting your S Pen lost. The supplied S Pen cannot tell its location (unlike S Pen Pro), but this app reminds you if the S Pen is not inserted back and also points to the last time and location it “saw the S Pen”.
Samsung Note Application
When you open the Samsung Note application, you can start writing after tapping the “write” icon on the right side top (or bottom left, depending on the version of the Note app). When you are using the S Pen with Notes app, you are offered several extra options at the bottom toolbar. You need to sidewise scroll on the bottom menu to see the options on the right side.
You can convert your handwritten text to machine machine-readable text file by tapping the T with the scribble icon. Next, you’ll find an icon with a triangle & circle. This option corrects your hand-drawn triangle, circle, arrow, straight-line to straight, corrected form.
Write on Callender Application
Since the S22 Ultra days, this has been a popular feature. You can open the Samsung calendar app, pinch to zoom in on any area and you can start writing after tapping the “write” icon on the right side top.
This emulates writing on a paper calendar.
S Pen as a Remote Shutter
It is an incredible feature. You can place your S24 Ultra anywhere (like on a tripod) to take a group selfie. Clicking the S Pen button will click the image. Of course, with S Pen you can use the rear cameras, zoom, and even change still to video and vice versa.
